The Colosseum has to be by far one of the most memorable outfit backgrounds so far. I would say it was an achievement to make it look like there was no one else than us, really! I’ll write more in depth about the Colosseum a little later, but let’s just say that it was amazing to walk underneath the old arches, trying to imagine what the huge venue looked like centuries ago.
My outfit was inspired by comfort more than anything else. If you have visited Rome in the summer months, you’ll know exactly why. It is H-O-T, and you’re going to walk miles regardless. When there’s a breeze, wearing a skirt or a dress will make you feel a little less sweaty. Even though I’ve traveled in my fair share of hot and humid places, Rome was in a league of its own. Mostly because of the walking outside in the sizzling heat and not getting to enjoy the luxury of AC most of the time. On our way back to the hotel each night we ended up jokingly competing on who was the stickiest. You really learn to appreciate a good shower!
I kind of accidentally ended up wearing my Converse all week. I did bring trainers, but didn’t even consider wearing them after the first day and walking for 10 hours. Zero blisters! No foot pain! Perfetto! The rest of the world probably knew this already, but what can I say, I’m not an early adapter.
