July is done and dusted, so the #MonthlyGold linkup for August is here! Late summer is definitely the time of the year when I am happy and anxious to start something new. It must be a remnant of still being in school that my year feels like it actually begins in August and not in January. This August will be no exception!
Here’s what I had planned for July, let’s see how I did.
Enjoy my vacation
Check! It was great to recharge in Rome for a week and spend the second week with friends and relatives. By the time you’re reading this, I’ll be almost back at work looking like this (hands down the funniest meme I’ve ever seen, by the way).
Check as well, and I’m so glad it is. We don’t have a huge amount of stuff, but in the middle of the process it always feels like the move will never be over. Luckily we both have the same approach to moving and projects in general – we try to get it done as soon as possible. When it’s crunch time, there’s no whining or procrastinating.
We both think and act on what urgently needs to be done, will be done efficiently and immediately and then we can rest afterwards. So, after 3 days and driving over 800 kms, we’re now done and I can’t locate most of my stuff. Well, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but that’s what you get with so many boxes…
PLAN OUT MY DAYS
I’ve decided that August will bring a new change of pace for me as well as a re-establishment of healthier routines. I love to have a structure in my day and definitely feel a lot more healthy and productive when I have a routine and some limits for myself. In regard to food, the summer has been a constant self-reward going on for two months. That has to stop!
Having a general routine conveniently brings me to the next goal…
I was a useless slob in July, if you couldn’t already tell from the previous goal. In addition to not eating well (or actually eating too much and the wrong things), I also mostly skipped exercise. Not. Good. Being busy definitely took its toll, but I would have been able to squeeze in gym visits and running, if I had wanted to. A big motivation for this is the fact that I am invited to a wedding in early September and my dress won’t zip up all the way. Cringe!
TRY A JUICE AND VEGGIE DETOX
For so long I have wanted to try a detox for a couple of days, so this might be a good time to do it! Since this would be my first time, I’ll probably start with juices, smoothies and a vegetable-based diet. Still need to plan this out and read other people’s experiences, but I am definitely excited! If you have any experience on this, please let me know in the comments! 🙂
START USING A BLOG PLANNER
While we were waiting for a metro in Rome, Autumn convinced me into starting to use one. She shared her great template and all I have to do now is to take all of my ideas from my brain to the sheet and start getting more organized. If you remember from my previous goals I struggled with understanding Pinterest. Now we’re somewhat friends and I’m learning more each day. In other blogging-related news, I am waiting for a tripod and a remote to arrive, so my outfit pictures don’t depend on someone else taking them.
All in all I feel a good vibe for the upcoming month. Let’s do this!
What kind of plans do you have for August? Are you ready for fall or do you wish for the summer to last just a little bit longer? 🙂
